Job overview

Ref: W18004

The school seeks to appoint an outstanding candidate who will inspire and lead this vital area of Wardle life, building on the significant successes of recent years.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding classroom practitioner and will have the drive, enthusiasm, vision and capacity to develop and combine all aspects of Sport at Wardle.

This is a key management post for the school and the successful candidate will continue to build upon both academic and extended curriculum success, promoting lifelong physical activity and wellbeing.

In recent years the school has continued to flourish. We focus on success in the core subjects of English, Maths and Science, but recognise the need for our students to do well across all areas. Sports, Performing Arts and extra-curricular opportunities are also strong.

Wardle Academy was inspected by Ofsted in December 2017 and judged to be good in all aspects. We are determined to carry on improving until we are the very best we can be. An essential part of this is the training and development of staff; we encourage our teachers to seek courses and opportunities which will help them further their careers whilst also providing them with new skills or knowledge.

The school moved into a new building in January 2014 and the facilities include two large sports halls, fitness gym, performance hall and an outdoor theatre. In addition, the school has been equipped with almost £1 million of new ICT resources.

Wardle Academy is part of the Wardle Trust and is located in a semi-rural setting serving many local communities. The school is easily accessible, within close proximity to the M62 motorway and Smithy Bridge train station.

Visits to the school are encouraged and warmly welcomed.  For further information or an informal discussion about the role, please contact Jon Skurr, Deputy Headteacher on 01706 373911.

Completed application forms should be returned to: hr@wardletrust.co.uk

The closing date for completed applications is 10 May 2018 at 10am.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Appointment to this post is therefore subject to pre-employment checks including enhanced Disclosure and Barring and background check.
