The successful candidate will lead STEM at a school that prides itself on its high expectations and also being truly inclusive. The Director of STEM will teach up to 65% of the timetable per week of a STEM related academic subject (Science or Maths).

The Director of STEM will work closely alongside the other leaders and Vice Principal in charge of outcomes, to develop a strong and ambitious STEM provision within the academy, and lead our new STEM Stream programme.

Main Purpose of the job is to lead and promote STEM activities throughout the school. The Director of STEM will produce and maintain a working development plan for STEM activities in both the curriculum and the expansive curriculum. The Director of STEM will design, coordinate and lead the STEM pathway for all year groups. This Job Description is issued along with that for a Classroom Teacher.

George Eliot is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school without sixth form situated in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. A smaller than average-sized secondary school, George Eliot will provide 950 places for secondary students aged 11-16, when fully subscribed.

The George Eliot High School opened in September 1961, set up as a new provision for the housing developments being built in the Nuneaton area. The school has expanded in size several times since then to accommodate its growing pupil numbers, most notably in 2002 when two new buildings were opened.
