Job overview

Oakbank school is expanding and, as a result, we are looking to recruit an ambitious, enthusiastic, and talented, Director of STEM.

We are looking for an inspirational leader who has experience of leading at least one STEM subject area and is looking for the next challenge in leading all areas of STEM at the school. The post holder will teach across the range of Key Stage Three and Four and would ideally be able to teach across more than one area including science, computing, maths, and technology.

Oakbank school is a thriving school and, although is smaller than many secondary schools, offers a wide range of CPD, training and development opportunities to our staff. This role would suit an experienced Head of Department and is not suitable to anyone without such experience.

The role involves the direct leadership and line management of all four STEM subject areas and will involve close collaboration with all relevant STEM Heads of Department.

The school is located in a semi-rural location on the outskirts of Reading and is in easy reach of the East and West M4 corridor via junction 11 and the A33 South to Basingstoke.

If you feel you have the skills and desire to become a member of our wonderful school community, we would welcome an application from you.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK and have qualified teacher status.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and require all staff and volunteers to share and demonstrate this commitment. The successful candidate will have to meet the requirements of the person specification and will be subject to the relevant pre-employment checks which will, where applicable, include a health check, an enhanced DBS check, the Children’s Barred List check and satisfactory references.

It is an offence for an individual who has been disqualified from working with children to knowingly apply for, offer to do, accept, or do any work in a ‘regulated activity’. The position advertised is a ‘regulated activity’.

Anthem will undertake a basic online check for all shortlisted candidates.
