Woldgate School is an 11-18 Comprehensive (NOR 1097 including 193 in the Sixth Form) situated at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds in an attractive market town on the outskirts of the City of York.

The Director of Studies – English will be a member of the Senior Team and thus part of a consultative process regarding whole school policy decisions and be responsible for overseeing, directing and reviewing all aspects of teaching, academic practice and policy within English.

We seek a highly-qualified and experienced teacher, who is an outstanding classroom practitioner. In the summer of 2015, 74.2% of Year 11 pupils gained an English A*-C grade and 75.2% achieved 5+ A*-C (in English and Maths). At A2, both English Language and English Literature achieved a 100% pass rate with 81.8% gaining A-C grades in English Language and 91.7% gaining A-C grades in English Literature.

Woldgate School is now ranked as one of the ‘top 100’ most improved schools in the country by the Department of Education and our results have ensured a strong performance in the East Riding (second) and within York (third). In addition Woldgate has also been recognised as one of the top performing schools in Yorkshire.

Woldgate School and Sixth Form College is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form situated in Pocklington, a small market town in York. It is an academy converter supported by a multi-academy trust called Wolds Learning Partnership. A larger than average school for a school of its type, it will provide 1,100 places for secondary and sixth form students between the ages of 11-18 when fully subscribed.

The school has been educating children from Pocklington and surrounding areas since 1958, and re-opened under the same name as an academy converter in January 2017.
