Job overview
We are seeking to appoint a full time Director of Teaching & Learning to raise our pupils’ achievement and improve the quality of teaching and learning across the School, in line with the School’s strategic plan, vision, mission and values.
The post includes responsibility for the leadership of the School’s arrangements for teachers involved in the Early Careers Framework and for the arrangements which it has in place for Initial Teacher Training.
The Director of Teaching and Learning is a member of the School’s Senior Management Team and, as such, the position holds particular responsibility for the School’s vision to build a learning community with an international standard of excellence.
The post holder is responsible for the coordination, monitoring and updating of the School’s strategic plan.
This role reports to the Deputy Head (Academic) and The Head.
The post holder will:
• Inspire and motivate the School community towards continuous improvement and innovation in teaching and learning, incorporating pupil voice into strategy-planning
• Take a leading role in embedding and assessing change to, and refinement of, teaching and learning practices
• Commit to sustained and evidenced pupil progress
• Communicate efficiently and highly effectively with all professional colleagues with appropriate follow up
• Model the highest standards of professional practice and interaction with pupils, working with them to improve their learning experiences and competencies
• Demonstrate and share the importance of emotional intelligence and empathy in building trust and a positive learning atmosphere across the School community

Ibstock Place School is an independent co-educational day school for pupils aged 4 to 18. The school occupies a ten-acre site on the edge of Richmond Park in South West London.
An urban location with a beautiful botanical feel, Ibstock is the perfect home for scholarly exploration and adventure. Championing co-education since our founding in 1896, we have created a diverse environment that reflects real-world communities and workplaces.
Our school is over subscribed, with assessed entry at the age of four for Kindergarten (Reception). There is a competitive entry examination at the age of eleven and most pupils in the Prep School proceed on into the Senior School.
