Nelson and Colne College are an Ofsted Outstanding College with an excellent local reputation. We are looking for Trainer Assessors to join our talented and learner focused team on a fixed-term basis until August 2019.
Due to expansion of our Training and Apprenticeship provision, we are looking to grow our team of Trainer Assessors and would be particularly interested to receive applications from individuals with experience in the following areas: Adult Care, Youth Work, Residential Care, Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, Supporting Teaching and Learning in Physical Education in Schools Sport, Children and Young People’s Workforce, Leadership and Management, Business Administration, Customer Services, Contact Centre Operations as well as Catering.
Working with learners placed in businesses across Lancashire, the successful candidate will be committed to work-based learning provision, with an appreciation of the fact that the role of an Assessor can make a massive difference to the life choices our learners will have in the future. Supporting a caseload of learners through their qualifications, the successful candidate will have a “hands-on” approach; coaching and demonstrating best practice in line with the new Standards.
Main duties include:
· Deliver all elements of relevant Business Unit programmes including: training in the workplace, mentoring, monitoring and measuring impact, timely feedback and assessment
· Deal with Apprentice recruitment, admission and induction procedures
· Identifying and facilitating the placement of students in order to ensure that both student and employer needs are met
· Being involved in the internal verification process of assessment
The ideal candidate will have:
· Have an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in relevant subject area, plus an A1 Award
· Demonstrate previous experience of delivery and assessment of qualifications in relevant subject area
· Possess current commercial/industrial experience

Nelson and Colne College, located in the town of Nelson, Lancashire, offers further education to 1,600 full-time students and 3,500 part-time adults. The college was founded during the reorganisation of education in Pendle in the early 1970s and created by the merger of several local sixth forms.
Recent investments have included a £2m engineering facility, an all-weather sports pitch and gym, fully equipped science laboratories, and student study and social spaces. In January 2017, Nelson and Colne College launched a university centre to offer a range of higher education programmes in East Lancashire and beyond.
