Notre Dame School has an exciting opportunity for a qualified and enthusiastic Drama Facilitator to support teaching and learning in the Senior School Drama department.

The Drama department’s facilities include a fully equipped, West End quality theatre seating over 350.

THE ROLE

Our Drama Facilitators facilitate, provide and supervise all aspects of theatre rehearsals and productions. 

A successful candidate will have considerable experience of single-handedly organizing and leading groups for young people, facilitating workshops and rehearsal sessions involving improvisation, role-play, storytelling and drama games, as well as experience of directing plays for performance.

Our Drama Facilitators will have the skill to plan and deliver sessions with significant responsibility for large-scale productions. They must also be able to work cooperatively with students and colleagues to support the wider delivery extra-curricular Drama. Annual events include the annual School Musical in November, The Lower School Play (KS3) in June/July and the Drama Festival in May. 

THE PERSON

The ideal candidate will be a Facilitator or a Director, ideally with experience of working as a theatre or performing arts within the 11-18 age range or a school environment.

A good knowledge of current health and safety regulations with regard to a theatre environment is essential.

Experience of supervising and training students in the use of lighting and sound systems associated to their academic and co-curricular activities is also desirable.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Considerable experience working as a drama facilitator and leading workshops, preferably within youth theatre/live performance industry or in an education capacity.

• Ability to lead the drama sessions, inspiring confidence, self-discovery and encouraging challenge and creativity.

• Passionate about drama and working with young people from a range of backgrounds.

• Commitment to respecting diversity in all its forms.

Hours: Part time, 7.5 hours per week, (Term time only)

Three after school rehearsals a week, between 16:00 and 18:30, with occasional weekend rehearsals on a Sunday, prior to the performance of major productions, on a timesheet basis (up to 6 per year)
