If you want to be the best, then you should probably join us

Students in our academy made more progress than in any other school in London and made the best progress of any co-educational school in the country in 2014 (Best 8 score 1081.4). That is great news for our students, the academy and our community, but there is so much more that we know can be achieved and you can help.

We have a relentless ambition to deliver continuing success to the young people we serve. Our approach is based on very simple principles: clear systems and extremely high expectations. We focus on the development of our students, their values and ultimately their academic success. We maximise the impact of teaching by providing clear leadership, minimising bureaucracy and effective support that have tangible results on the quality of teaching and outcomes for our students.

The Role

You will be working with the Subject Leader Drama and Dance, and will play a leading role in developing Drama teaching for students in the academy. This exciting and challenging post requires an enthusiastic, hardworking, conscientious and energetic individual, teaching Drama up to and including A level.

Drama is a valued and popular subject in our friendly and diverse school, with a healthy take-up at GCSE and beyond. At the City Academy arts thrive, with many opportunities for small and large scale performances, considerable arts enrichment activities and strong links forged with practitioners and companies such as The Barbican, Old Vic Theatre and Frantic Assembly.

You might be an experienced teacher keen work in an environment where you can benefit from excellent behaviour, outstanding CPD opportunities and the exceptional value added by the ‘City Experience’. Or you may be a newly qualified teacher, keen to develop your practice in a world class environment where you will be fully supported on your journey to outstanding.

Either way, if you are energetic with a good sense of humour, passionate about the arts and committed to making a lasting impact upon young peoples’ lives, we would like to hear from you.

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to shape the lives of young people in Hackney. If you think you can help transform the opportunities for the community we serve then we would like to hear from you.

This post will be considered for a September 2017 start also.

The City Academy, Hackney is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check is required for all successful applicants.

The position is to start in September 2017. For details about the role and how to apply please visit www.thecityacademy.org.

The closing date for applications is Friday 23rd June 2017 at 9am
