We are seeking to appoint a Drama with EAL Teacher (International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme & Middle Years Programme) to join three other members of our whole-school arts team, as well as our EAL team. It is envisaged that the teacher appointed will teach the following classes in 2019/20:
- MYP Drama (2 lessons per week in each of Grades 7-11 / 11-16 year olds);
- MYP English Additional Language (4 lessons per week in each of Grades 8-9 / 12-14 year olds);
- PYP Drama (1 lesson per week in each of Grades 2-6 / 6-11 year olds);
for a total of 23 x 50-minute lessons of subject teaching per week.
In collaboration with the other members of the arts team, the teacher appointed will also be responsible for coordinating co-curricula performing arts opportunities and shows for our school community. Although there is an EAL component of this role for next academic year, an interest in teaching middle school English Language and Literature would be seen as a distinct advantage.
Drama lessons are taught in a dedicated studio fitted with an Apple and flat screen TVs and we have a hall which is used for productions.
The contract offered will be a permanent appointment and, for many applicants, there will also be the possibility of not paying taxes locally in Italy for the first two years of fiscal residency in the country. More information about the contract will be provided to longlisted candidates.
We are looking for teachers who show a high level of initiative, flexibility, creativity and organisational skills, as well as a commitment to co-curricula initiatives. ° to be in possession of a university degree in the subject(s) and an appropriate teaching qualification;
° to have had recent experience teaching the subject(s) with students aged 11-16 or 6-16;
° to be mother-tongue English (or equivalent level of competency);
° to be a UK or EU passport holder or already be in possession of a valid visa that enables work in Italy.
Previous experience with IB programmes is not required and official IB training will be offered, together with relocation assistance and help with the apartment search and settling-in process.
