Job overview

DT and Art Technician required

This is a great opportunity to join our school at a very exciting time in its journey.  This is a school with great students and ambitious, talented staff, who aim to develop students who have the belief in themselves that anything is possible. We want each one of them to aspire to be the best they can be without any limitations and it’s important to us that our staff feel the same.

Are you:

  • Passionate about working with young people and the importance of education?
  • Able to relate to young people?
  • Organised and creative
  • Dynamic and organised with good attention to detail?
  • Someone with good communication, interpersonal and ICT skills

If so, then this could be the role for you.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual who could provide some technician support for our Art and Design Technology subject areas. You will be joining well led and well resourced subject areas and be joining an excellent team.

The purpose of the role is to provide timely support to the teaching staff in the Art and Design technology subject area and involves:

  • helping to prepare and provide materials for lessons
  • ensure stock levels are maintained
  • ensure all health and safety regulations are followed
  • undertake administration tasks
  • undertake some cover within the art and DT subject areas
  • knowledge of ceramics; photography; graphics; food; textiles and resistant materials would be preferable but is not essential.

The role is adaptable to meet the skill set of the right candidate and you would be supported in this role by two experienced subject leaders. Training will also be provided.

Education has the power to change lives, communities and society for the better. At RLT we believe that we can achieve more for our pupils, trainees, staff and communities by working together rather than alone. Schools in RLT are united by a common belief in the benefits of working together, and by our commitment to shared principles.

OUR VISION is for our schools and SCITT to improve rapidly, continuously and sustainably: to be better faster together.

OUR ‘WHY?’ is that children and young people ‘only get one go’ in school and therefore as part of RLT we aim to ensure the best possible ‘go’ for our pupils.

OUR ‘HOW?’ is through the highest support and challenge for our schools and each other, underpinned by our principles.

Our employees benefit from a wide variety of support including extensive continuing professional learning and development opportunities, wellbeing and staff networks and access to Defined Benefit Pension Schemes (TPS and LGPS) for all staff. For more information on what it is like to work for the Trust, and the benefits you could access, please see our “Working in RLT” guide.

This role includes regulated activity relevant to children.

The River Learning Trust and Gosford Hill School are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and preventing extremism. The Trust is required to conduct a variety of checks and online searches about you as part of their recruitment process in accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance. It is an offence to apply for certain roles within schools if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.

Welcome to Gosford Hill School

It’s a pleasure to welcome you to Gosford Hill School. Our school prides itself on the emphasis that we place on the needs, aspirations and achievement of individual students with learning very much at the heart of our work. We want our students to develop as resilient and autonomous learners, keen to overcome challenges, and take risks, so that they gain the transferable skills needed to enable them to lead fulfilling lives as confident and articulate individuals in our society.

Every student has strengths and talents, and it is our job to find and unlock that potential in every student. Whether it’s sport, art, music, Duke of Edinburgh or World Challenge, we celebrate success and recognise that learning goes beyond the classroom. Students are often more likely to remember the wealth and diverse range of opportunities available to them beyond the classroom as they are faced with new and exciting challenges.

We work closely with parents, and it is our belief that where the school, individual student and their parents work closely together, students will succeed.

It’s a privilege to lead such a wonderful school and I do hope that you find the information on our website helpful. There is so much more to learn about our school though, so I would therefore urge you to come and visit us in order to find out and experience for yourself why students, parents, staff and our wider community are so proud of our school.

Mr Nigel J. Sellars
Headteacher

School Vision and Ethos
