Actual starting salary range: £18710.47 – £20657.87 per annum

Temporary for six months initially, with the possibility of a further six months

Trinity Academy Sowerby Bridge is a new academy which joined the Trinity Multi-Academy Trust in October 2018. Although the academy has recently transferred, the trust has been supporting the academy for over 24 months, working to replicate the success of Trinity Academy Halifax, the flagship school, in improving the outcomes for children and young people.

The GCSE results in the summer of 2018 and 2019 were a validation of the work we have already undertaken in the academy. The results our students achieved means the academy can now be recognised as one of the most improved schools in the country. However, we are determined not to rest on our laurels and are always looking for ways to better serve our students.

All of these fantastic and exciting initiatives require the expertise and commitment of dedicated staff and Trinity Academy Sowerby Bridge now wishes to appoint an EAL Engagement Officer. Over the last 12 months we have invested heavily in our pastoral team, which now includes the following positions:

  • Two Senior Leaders with responsibility for pastoral care
  • Education Welfare Officer
  • Lead Attendance Officer
  • Attendance Officer
  • Family Intervention Worker
  • Child Protection Officer
  • Four House Managers
  • Two Deputy House Managers

All the above positions are non-teaching, demonstrating our commitment to dedicate our pastoral staff to pastoral issues.

Knowledge or experience of working in an educational setting is desirable but not essential; we believe in getting the right people into our organisation. Training specific to an educational setting can be provided as required.

Our vision is to be the most transformational academy in England. If you would like to be part of our journey we look forward to hearing from you.

What can we offer you?

  •  An opportunity to help shape the transformation of Trinity Academy Sowerby Bridge
  • Full support from a dedicated team of senior leaders and a large pastoral team
  • Career progression and cross-trust working
  • A range of staff benefits, including a Cycle to Work scheme, reduced-cost health cover and childcare support

You must be fully committed to optimising the opportunities that are available to children and young people, secure in the knowledge that you will be joining an ambitious forward-thinking Academy Trust that sets the standards for our family of schools and academies.

Start date:           To be discussed at interview

Closing date:     9.00am on Thursday 12th December

Interviews:        TBC (likely to be Thursday 19th December)

The Trinity MAT were first approached to work with the then Sowerby Bridge High School, when it had been graded as inadequate by Ofsted and had been ranked in the bottom 15% of all schools nationally.

After joining the MAT in 2018 the progress made has been outstanding. The academy has improved its Progress 8 outcome by 0.92 and the performance puts us comfortably in the top 1% of most improved schools in the country.

In September 2021 we will be adopting the new name of Trinity Academy Grammar to better communicate our identity, high standards and aspirations for our students. We have chosen a name which truly reflects our grammar school heritage, and to better showcase our core values of Empathy, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility, as we continue to build on this legacy through our outstanding achievements and passion to help our students reach their full potential.

It is a very exciting time to be considering joining Trinity Academy Grammar.  We can offer candidates the opportunity to work in partnership with the Principal and the senior leadership team, teachers in the school and other professionals across the trust (including the Teaching School and West Yorkshire Maths Hub).

The working environment is supported by committed, hardworking and supportive colleagues who are focused on improving outcomes for our students. Comprehensive pastoral systems are embedded to ensure the behaviour of students is outstanding and they are happy and supported in their learning.

As an academy we have high expectations of staff, we expect staff to challenge our students and themselves. We set high standards and aim to display these in all that we do. Working for Trinity Academy Sowerby Bridge is rewarding, we can offer a fantastic environment, excellent CPD programmes and a range of opportunities to progress. These ambitions are shared across all schools within the trust.
