EAL Teacher sought for exciting partnership with Australian school in China

The VCE in China teacher’s role is to act as a specialist VCE English as an Additional Language (EAL) and Gateway English teacher at a partner school. This teacher is primarily responsible for teaching a select group of students the VCE EAL curriculum. 

The successful candidate must be registered as a teacher. The candidate may be required to attend professional development in Melbourne, once per year, usually Term 3.

You will need:

  • Current Victorian Institute of Teaching registration or having relevant teaching qualification
  • A demonstrated capacity to provide exemplary teaching characterised by enthusiasm, a desire for improvement and a commitment to excellence 
  • Experience teaching non English speaking background students, knowledge, respect and interest in other cultures and a willingness to work overseas for an extended period of time
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently and show a high level of initiative

You will receive:

  • Salary of 21,000 RMB per month (after tax). Paid holidays according to the Chinese school calendar
  • Retainer bonus (negotiable), paid upon resigning a second agreement  
  • The school offers free fully furnished studio on campus, and the school will also pay, up to a certain amount, the water, electricity and internet fees in the studio
  • 1 return economy airfare to China for the commencement and conclusion of the contract, including 30kgs luggage allowance to assist with relocation
  • Airport Transfers
