About Oakleigh Grammar School

Oakleigh Grammar School is a co-ed independent day school, catering to students aged 2-18. The all-through school is located in Victoria, in Melbourne’s south-east, and currently has approximately 550 students from Prep to Year 12.

Originally known as Oakleigh Greek Orthodox College, the school was founded in 1983 as a primary to Year 8 school, and expanded until it contained all secondary years. It purchased the adjoining childcare centre in 1999, then enabling the school to provide a complete education. The school officially changed its name to Oakleigh Grammar in 2012, and places a strong emphasis on cultural diversity and contemporary education.

Principal

Mr Mark Robertson

Facilities

Oakleigh Grammar’s most recent installation is the newly renovates Science Wing, which provides modern equipment and technology, providing staff with the best resources to encourage and help students to excel in science. Its sporting facilities include a full gymnasium and multipurpose sports complex, rock climbing wall, outdoor futsal court and basketball/netball courts.

Curriculum

The school is segmented into four levels: an early learning centre for two- to five-year-olds, junior school, middle school, and senior school - to ensure productive and appropriate learning at different developmental stages. Small class sizes enable teachers to cater to the specific needs of individual students. All studies are underpinned by Christian faith and culture, with a subject range that covers English, mathematics, science, humanities, sport, religion, and creative arts. Oakleigh Grammar also implements an iPad programme whereby students download prescribed applications to their devices relevant to specific subjects.

School ethos

Oakleigh Grammar wants every pupil to be personally known by staff to ensure that maximum emphasis is placed on student welfare and safety. The school and its community are a multicultural environment, and Oakleigh Grammar aims to provide its students with an education that surpasses academic growth.
