An opportunity has arisen to join Barnsley's Early Childhood Services team as an Early Years Consultant. As an Early Years Foundation Stage Consultant you will join a successful team, contributing to quality improvement across Barnsley.

The key purpose of the role of Early Years Consultant is to work with a range of Early Years Practitioners to plan and develop high quality, inclusive provision in the Early Years. Impact measures of the role include Ofsted judgements and childrens outcomes at the end of EYFS, demonstrated through the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile.

The successful candidate will work with a range of Early Years settings including Family Centres, PVI settings and schools across the Borough, with specific responsibility for improving outcomes for children aged 0-5 in a geographical area.

Key responsibilities of the post include:

  • Taking a lead role and being accountable for improving outcomes for children in a Family Centre as part of the Senior Management Team
  • Providing consultancy and training on all aspects of provision and practice to schools, settings, Family Centre, LA Officers and other agencies.
  • Working as part of an integrated team to deliver integrated early childhood services, ensuring that locality priorities are addressed.
  • Fulfilling the LA statutory duty to moderate the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile
