Job overview

We are looking for an Early Years Educator to work to support the learning of children in the early years classes at Harris Primary Academy Chafford Hundred, including undertaking occasional class cover as directed.

About Us

Harris Primary Academy Chafford Hundred is a 3 form entry primary school from Reception to Year 6, which also includes a 52 place Nursery. The academy was judged outstanding in every category in our October 2018 Ofsted inspection.

We are a sister school to Harris Primary Academy Mayflower, along with the other Academies in the Harris Federation. We work very closely together and share the very best practice and leadership knowledge and capacity to make the education we offer outstanding. Main Areas of Responsibility

In your role at our academy, you will:

  • Support children's development in all aspects of the EYFS curriculum in Nursery and Reception as required.
  • Develop effective practice and ensure high quality provision for all children by reflecting on skills develop them through observation and support.
  • Support practitioners by monitoring and record children's progress and using information as a basis for planning and improving practice and provision.
  • Work in partnership with parents and to value and utilise parent's contribution to support children's well-being, learning and development
  • Develop and improve the quality and effectiveness of the EYFS by working collaboratively with the EYFS Teachers and Phase Leader.
  • Develop resources in the provision as necessary.
  • Be a key person to a group of children and support transitions between Nursery and Reception and other settings.

Qualifications & Experience

We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience of working with or caring for children of relevant age, supporting learning
  • Experience of establishing good relationships with parents and families encouraging involvement in education
  • Good numeracy/literacy skills
  • The ability to organise yourself
  • The ability to work constructively as part of a team, understanding academy roles and responsibilities and your own position within these
  • The ability to undertake administration tasks such as registers
  • The ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities
  • The ability to relate well to children and adults including managing difficult or conflicting situations
  • Energy and enthusiasm to improve the learning of all students

School summary

Harris Primary Academy Chafford Hundred is a three-form entry Academy located in the heart of Chafford Hundred, which is a modern development bordering Lakeside, Thurrock and serving a vibrant and diverse community. Chafford Hundred has good links to central London as well as being accessible from Kent and Essex.

Harris Primary Academy Chafford Hundred is a good school with high educational standards. Our children’s academic progress is regularly monitored to ensure they are all doing as well as they possibly can. The children also take part in a wide range of extra-curricular activities, including a five-day residential visit for Year 6 pupils. Parents are very involved in school life, through our PTA, through homework projects, and through Reading and Maths Volunteers.

The school was graded as Good by Ofsted in May 2014, having moved from Requires Improvement, and is now on the pathway to securing outstanding provision for all pupils.
