Job overview

The Phase Leader (EY/KS1) will be responsible for providing inspirational leadership of and accountability for the school’s EY and KS1 curriculum. The Phase Leader will support the Positively Kellett Learner Profile and there will be an emphasis on developing independence, responsibility, creativity, and confidence.

The Phase Leader will work with the EY/KS1 team to create a provision that supports children’s development as active, engaged learners in an inspiring, creative and language rich environment. Through exceptional leadership, guidance and support, children will feel happy and secure and make strong progress in all areas of the curriculum. The Phase Leader will work to ensure excellent learning outcomes for all students, while also demonstrating excellence as a class teacher.

The Phase Leader will contribute to whole-school self-evaluation and school improvement planning. They will also have a significant responsibility for formative and summative assessment.  The EY/KS1 phase leader will work with the KS2 Phase Leader to develop individual teacher talent and respond to under-performance by offering mentoring and coaching.  This class-based Phase Leader role is offered with 1.5 days non-contact allowance.

Requirements of the role

Early Years or Key Stage One specialism

Qualified teacher status

Evidence of professional development relevant to this role.

NPQML or similar desirable.

Experience of outstanding teaching in EYFS and KS1

Excellent working knowledge of both the EYFS curriculum and Key Stage 1 to ensure all students reach their potential and all staff are well supported.

Recent UK experience and knowledge of UK independent sector schools is desirable but not essential.

Applicants will have strong IT skills and a proven ability to use technology to support learning.

Kellett is a through train school with campuses in Pok Fu Lam on Hong Kong Island and in Kowloon Bay.
