Ark Priory opened in 2013 and were graded Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ in all categories in 2015, a major achievement in just two years. The academy is well oversubscribed and enjoys a supportive, caring parent community.

Ark Priory is a two form entry primary school situated in brand-new facilities in Acton. As part of our expansion programme, we are now looking for more dynamic and bright Primary Teachers to join the founding team across all phases for September 2016.

If you are looking for an opportunity to contribute to the curriculum, propel a vibrant school forward, and be part of a child’s development at a crucial time in their life, we would love to hear from you.

Ark Priory Primary Academy and Ark Byron Primary Academy are currently based in the same building. Next year Ark Byron will move a short distance away to a brand new, purpose-built building in a fantastic park setting - almost unheard of for inner London!

The schools work closely together to provide the best possible education and experience, whilst also expecting the highest standards, from staff, pupils and parents. Strong candidates will also be considered for opportunities within Ark Byron Academy. Please see our candidate information pack for more information.

We are particularly seeking a KS2 Primary English Teacher

There are plenty of opportunities for career progression. Subject and phase leaders will be offered attractive terms. This will also provide access to regular training and coaching, excellent facilities and resources and an arena to regularly share best practice.

We offer our teachers a supportive, challenging environment, coupled with a strong CPD programme. If appointed you will be able to take on additional responsibility in a variety of areas depending upon your experience and interests, including subject leadership.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • be a positive role model for the pupils in your care
  • believe in the potential of every child and be committed to seeing that every child reaches that potential.
  • be able to inspire learning beyond the classroom, ensuring that learning doesn’t stop once the school day ends
  • possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of Acton residents.
  • drive innovative practices, using and applying technology in and beyond the classroom.

Our core values are explore, endeavour and excel. Our teachers encourage pupils’ curiosity by developing activities which facilitate the exploration of the urban environment. Ark Priory’s recent outings have included a day at the V&A Museum of Childhood, a trip to Acton Park to map the local area, and an excursion to Morrisons to purchase supplies for a tea party. We take great pride in the diversity of our student body, celebrating all backgrounds and cultures, learning Mandarin, visiting London Central Mosque and experiencing Djembe, violin and recorder even at an early age.

If you are an outstanding individual who has the relentless drive, boundless enthusiasm and the resilience for a challenging but rewarding new opportunity please submit an application today.

Please call for a visit if you wish to discuss this application further.

I look forward to hearing from you.

About Ark Priory Primary Academy

Ark Priory admitted its first two reception and nursery classes (90 pupils) in September 2013. It is a mixed, non-denominational; two form entry primary school for local children in East Acton. It offers an inclusive and inspiring education in a community school with the highest possible aspirations for its pupils. We place great emphasis of teaching our pupils social norms and nurturing a sense of community belonging.  A clearly defined set of values ‘Explore, Endeavour and Excel’ are shared by all stakeholders, permeates all aspects of our work. Ark Priory had a highly successful first year and in June 2015 was graded outstanding by Ofsted. Read the full report here. From September 2019, it now has nursery through to Year 6 pupils.

The school is part of Ark, an educational charity with a network of academies in Birmingham, Hastings, London and Portsmouth. Ark schools are happy, well-run schools characterised by high ambitions, high achievement and exemplary behaviour with the mission that all pupils have the opportunity to go to university or pursue a career of their choice. The academy opened in September 2013 with ambitious plans and targets. These were fully met. The academy achieved a remarkable amount in its first year, having established a clear identity, strong pedagogy and an aspirational culture which is underpinned by Ark pillars of ‘Knowing every child’. Ark Priory also has an academy song that highlights our motto ‘Courage to fly’ and our school values, ‘Explore, endeavour and excel’ showing that these permeate through all aspects of academy life. Classes are named after famous explorers and other influential figures from history who were catalysts for change and who personify our values, such as Seacole, Shackleton  and Einstein.

We have strong links with the wider community and we encourage our students to ensure they become part of the community by participating in various local fairs and events. Our school also regularly welcomes external visitors including as a dance group workshop, a scientist and an explorer! Parents are also a big part of our community and regularly volunteer at the school and organise a variety of fundraising events from bake sales to raffles to bingo nights.

We understand the importance of investing in our staff and providing them with the necessary training and development to achieve our shared goals. In addition to frequent in-school training, regular external training is available to everyone. Staff are encouraged to bring back a "learning take-away", in order to continue this training in school and pass any knowledge or best practices onto the rest of the team. Our training doesn’t stop once you reach a certain level or learn a certain skill – we’ll support you throughout your whole career, from starting out as a trainee to running your own school.

The key to our success has been high expectations and the pursuit of excellence that our teachers instil in our young learners throughout their learning journey. Please see our website for further information.
