The Governing body and Trustees are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Early Years Leader to become a key member of the leadership team of our rapidly improving school.

The successful leader will:

  • Be an exemplary Early Years practitioner, able to model and disseminate high quality teaching and learning and act as a role model for others in your team.
  • Have a good understanding of the EYFS.
  • Have the ability and skills to both lead a team and work as part of one.
  • Be passionate and committed raising standards and making learning fun.
  • Be an excellent, engaging communicator who can develop strong relationships with children, parents and the wider community.
  • Be up for a challenge and have a ‘can do’ outlook.
  • Be committed to CPD for yourself and others.
  • Be willing to contribute to the life of our school and community.
  • Develop colleagues bringing out the best in them, whilst generating a positive, motivating and successful environment.
  • Be innovative, highly motivated and eager to take the lead.
  • Have a sense of humour.

Welcome from the Principal

At Mount Pellon Academy we deliver a broad and balanced curriculum that enables all children to ‘be the best they can be’. The English and mathematics curriculum follows ‘mastery principles’: ensuring children have opportunities to embed learning before moving onto the next topic. The curriculum is inclusive and imaginative: stimulating young minds as well as preparing them for the modern world.

English 

Literature lies at the heart of the school’s English curriculum: the children read both contemporary and classical British authors as well as literature from around the world. We foster a love of reading and provide our pupils with rich texts and a vibrant environment. The termly plan is split into units of work – enabling children to master a writing style before moving on.

Mathematics 

There is a termly plan for each year group from Year 1 to Year 6. Each term is split into twelve weeks. As part of each overview, a significant amount of time is devoted to developing key number concepts each year. This ensures students build their fluency as number sense will affect their success in other areas of mathematics. Students who are successful with numbers are much more confident mathematicians.

The wider curriculum 

The National Curriculum subjects are taught discretely and through topics, this ensures children become skilled in Science, Computing and the foundation subjects. The school is committed to developing an appreciation of visual and performance art alongside inspiring the next generation of historians and geographers. Throughout the curriculum British values of: democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance for those with different faiths and beliefs are interwoven.

We promote high-level thinking and use cooperative learning strategies to promote collaboration. This is complemented by a bespoke music program where every child in our school has the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument.
