Byker Primary is an exceptional school! In July 2017, Ofsted graded us outstanding in all areas and our report was incredibly positive.

Based in Newcastle upon Tyne, we’re a local authority-maintained school with 486 pupils on register; this includes the children who attend as part of our preschool and nursery. We are a diverse school with 22% of our children being on the SEN register, 77% take free school meals and 28% have English as an additional language. The school is diverse, sometimes complex but always inspirational.

Academically, our results, in almost all subjects, are consistently above the national average; while our pupil progress has placed us in the top 10% of schools nationally for the last few years. Our children develop into confident, self-assured learners. Staff work together to ensure that every child is supported and challenged to achieve their very best. The children are proud of their successes and their school; they feel safe and enjoy positive relationships with school staff.  Ofsted (2017) reported that our ‘pupils love their learning...they demonstrate exemplary attitudes to learning and to each other and they make exceptional progress, particularly in English and mathematics.’
