Job overview

We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced teacher to join our team of class teachers on a full-time, permanent basis to start in September 2017. We anticipate the person appointed teaching in either Early Years (3+ Nursery or 4+ Reception) or Key Stage One (Year 1 or Year 2). Form teachers take their classes for most of the week but a number of subjects are also taken by specialist teachers (e.g. Physical education, Music and Computing).

There are up to 22 children in each class. In Nursery there are two parallel classes whilst from Reception (which we call Kindergarten) there are three parallel classes. Each year group team works together to plan and share initiatives and activities, such as educational visits. The form teacher will report directly into the Head of Infants (Years 1 and 2) or the Head of Early Years (Nursery and Kindergarten), who are themselves form teachers in their respective departments. The Early Years department follows the EYFS statutory framework. The Infant department does not follow the National Curriculum as such but it is used as a key reference point when planning the Lady Barn programmes of study at Key Stage One.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, forward-thinking professional to join our highly committed teaching team. We want you to not only be able to teach to a very high standard but also to be innovative and creative in your approach, adapting your teaching style to 'how children learn best' and be committed to the school's flexible and varied approaches to learning. For children of all abilities, including a significant proportion who are particularly able.

Prospective candidates who would like to visit the school prior to an application are invited to contact the school. The dates set aside for this purpose are Wednesday 3rd May and Tuesday 9th May at 4.30pm. Please contact Mrs Gardner, Head's PA, at the school to let us know that you would like to come or to see whether an alternative time might be possible.

Applications should include a completed application form and a letter of application addressed to the Head which should include whether you have a preference to teach in Nursery (3+), Reception (4+), Year 1 (5+) or Year 2 (6+).

Details of how completed applications can be returned can be found within the attached Job Information.

Closing date: 10.00am on Friday, 12th May 2017.

Interview date: Thursday, 18th May 2017.

The appointment will be subject to satisfactory medical checks and confirmation of academic qualifications. The post will be confirmed on receipt of all references and of a satisfactory outcome from an enhanced DBS check.
