LOCATION: Mill House Pre-School, Giggleswick School
RESPONSIBLE TO: Nursery Manager
HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday between the hours of 7.15am and 6.15pm on a rota basis.
SALARY: £19,461 per annum

JOB SUMMARY
1. To carry out the professional duties of an Early Years Practitioner as circumstances may require and in accordance with the Nursery policies and EYFS framework under the direction of the Nursery Manager and Head of Junior School.
2. Work as part of a team in providing high standards of education in a stimulating and challenging environment.
3. Ensure safeguarding of children and contribute to the ‘Every Child Matters’ agenda
4. Support the aims of Mill House Pre-School and work as part of a team in the organisation of high quality provision
5. Promote the physical, social, emotional and cognitive development of each child by meeting their individual and group needs
6. Ensure positive parent/carer partnerships

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning, Teaching and Class Management (EYFS)
1. Identifying clear ‘next step’ objectives and plan appropriate activities and enhancements to provision
2. Deliver teacher-led activities
3. Identifying and provide appropriate learning opportunities for SEND or very able pupils
4. Providing engaging, stimulating learning environment, both indoors and out
5. Promote positive behaviour in accordance with the Nursery’s policy and procedures
6. Work in partnership with parents/carers to support learning and development at home
7. Use a variety of teaching strategies including adult-led, scaffolding and extending children’s play
Monitoring, Assessment, Recording, Reporting (EYFS)
1. Assess how well learning objectives have been achieved through observational assessment
2. Identify and record significant learning and identify ‘next steps’
3. Analyse and interpret summative assessment date to monitor individual pupil progress
4. Report verbally to parents/carers on their child’s progress
Curriculum Development (EYFS)
1. Have responsibility for assisting the development of plans identified by clear targets and success criteria through the Early Years development plans
2. Contribute to the Early Years and personal development through attendance at appropriate meetings, training and the departmental quality assurance program
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Education & Qualifications
• GCSE level English and Maths
• Level 3 NVQ
• Paediatric First Aid
• A full and relevant childcare qualification
Knowledge and experience
• Experience of working with 2 – 4 year olds
• Experience as a key worker within an Early Years setting
Skills
• Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop positive relationships with young people
• Good writing and computer skills
• Excellent communication skills
• An understanding of equality and diversity issues
Personal qualities
• Willingness and ability to be flexible
• Ability to relate to staff, students, parents/carers and governors.
• Highly organised with good time keeping
• Honest, reliable and patient
• Commitment and flexibility with the demands of the role
Safeguarding
