Role: 

We are currently searching for an Early Years Practitioner, reporting to the Head of Chapter House and Queen’s Kindergarten, to work within our Kindergarten department to support and nurture the development of our youngest children in the Collegiate. The Early Years Practitioner will contribute to ensuring that the Collegiate and all its personnel are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.   

This job description is written at a specific time and is subject to change as the demands of the Collegiate and the role develops. The role requires flexibility and adaptability and the employees of the Collegiate need to be aware that they may be asked to perform tasks and be given responsibilities not detailed in this job description.  


Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Using the Early Years Curriculum to plan activities which allow opportunities for child-initiated and adult-led learning

• Planning opportunities for children to learn in and out of school contexts

• Using agreed school monitoring and assessment strategies to observe, evaluate and record the progress of children

• Identifying and supporting children who are failing to achieve their potential

• Managing learning opportunities

• Interesting and motivating children

• Participate in open days to promote the Kindergarten and staff meetings



The Appointed Candidate will have:

• Level 3 Qualification in Childcare

• A full, clean driving license and access to own vehicle

• Experience of working within an early years setting

• The ability to demonstrate excellent planning and organisational skills

• The ability to communicate effectively with staff, pupils, parents and carers

• Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Guidance and curriculum

• Knowledge of Child Protection/Safeguarding (Desirable)

• Motivation to work with children and the ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships with children and young people whilst respecting personal boundaries

• Be a positive role model to students and staff

• A sense of humour!
