Teacherhorizons connects teachers with opportunities in top schools all over the world. Teachers use it to explore schools overseas and gain free support from education experts. Since 2013 Teacherhorizons has placed over one hundred happy teachers in YWIES and other affiliated schools in China and Hong Kong. Feedback has been resoundingly positive.

"The tour around the school with the senior leadership team blew me away. It’s like nothing I had ever seen before; so modern and forward-thinking…...I’m so excited for the next steps and to get stuck into everything going on in the school. I am so grateful to Teacherhorizons for getting me the job in the first place……” (a teacher recently placed at one of the YWIES schools)

Reputable schools across China and Hong Kong

The YWIES shares the same 85-year heritage as the Yew Chung International Schools (YCIS) founded in 1932 in Hong Kong. The YWIES is a reputable network of international education schools in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Yantai, Rizhao and Tongxiang, providing high quality bilingual (Chinese and English) and co-cultural (Eastern and Western) education from Early Childhood to Secondary for Mainland Chinese students. While adhering to the requirements of the Chinese National Curriculum, YWIES takes a holistic approach to nurturing the whole child, providing a positive, caring and joyful learning environment that broadens students’ horizons, enabling them to become confident, well-balanced global citizens with strong roots in China.

YWIES Beijing:

With a brand new, state of the art campus, one of the key aims of the school’s leadership team is to create an environmentally friendly and sustainable learning community that fulfils the requirements of the internationally validated LEED Gold standard of building design. It will be the first school in China to introduce the unique FNI design concept, hence leading the innovation of education in the 21st Century.

The school offers education from Early Years all the way through to Primary and Secondary following an integrated local/international curriculum which includes an Intensive English Programme. A collaborative team teaching approach creates a genuinely holistic bilingual learning environment.

Beijing

Beijing is one of the largest cities in the world and is an exciting and vibrant place to live. It is full of history and has all the amenities that come with its position as the capital of China. From cutting edge art districts, the dramatic Great Wall, the marvellous Ghost Street with its lanterns and street restaurants and charming Hutong residential areas, there is something for everyone here.

Though the city does suffer from pollution at certain times of the year, these recent comments from a head teacher in Beijing give a balanced overview:

"There can be issues at times with air pollution in Beijing and we do occasionally have days where it is not good. However, we have many more days when it is not polluted and this is a trend that is slowly and steadily improving. The Government here are certainly acting on the situation and trying to improve it. I have been here 2 1/2 years now and I have seen an improvement in conditions in this time. We have many lovely blue sky days where it is an absolute pleasure to be in this city.”

The Opportunity: Early Years teacher
