The School:

The International School of Modena is one of several very successful Italian schools belonging to ISE (the International School of Europe) which in turn is part of Inspired, a worldwide network of premium schools offering global best practice and professional development. Located just outside the city of Modena, in the attractive and rural countryside, it caters for just over 200 students aged between 3 and 18 years of age. The school is fully authorised by the International Baccalaureate for its Primary, Middle Years and Diploma programmes. Our unique and stimulating campus, surrounded by the countryside, boasts an innovative and functional design and outstanding sport facilities, and is an ideal learning environment for students aged 3 and beyond.

The Primary Years Programme aims to develop students who are prepared for the world of tomorrow by using an inquiry based approach. They are encouraged to be responsible for their own learning and become caring, active lifelong learners. The focus is on developing the whole child.

The role:

We are looking for an Early Years teacher who will be able to adapt quickly to a new and exciting learning environment. We are seeking an enthusiastic professional willing to use flexible strategies in a class with students with different language backgrounds. Candidates should be interested in using a constructivist approach to learning; some knowledge and understanding of the Reggio Emilia Approach and/or PYP would be very beneficial. A strong commitment to purposeful teaching, collaborative planning and open communication is essential. We pride ourselves on the commitment offered by our friendly and professional staff. Applicants must be willing to be active, flexible participants in a hard-working team of teachers. Having your own car would be advantageous, although not essential. Proven experience within an international, bilingual or multilingual context would also be useful.

Job Description

The candidate must possess the following experience, skills and knowledge:

  • To have established experience in teaching Early Years;
  • To have a strong interest in a constructivist approach to learning;
  • To demonstrate ability in engaging with pupils and teaching staff alike maintaining a high standard of work at all times;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills;
  • To be a citizen of the EU or already in possession of a valid visa that enables to work in Italy;
  • To hold “Certified Teaching Status” or equivalent qualification;
  • Owning car would be useful due to school’s location, but car-share also possible;
  • IB PYP/Reggio experience/training is helpful but not required

The International School of Modena is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational independent all-through school  in Italy, serving students from the age of 2-18. The all-through school, situated in Montale Rangone, Modena, has approximately 240 students on record.
