Following the retirement of one of our long serving and much loved Teaching Assistants, Heathfield is looking to appoint a motivated and dedicated individual to support teaching colleagues who create a positive and nurturing environment that encourages exploration, creativity and independence. We seek someone who loves being with young children, and can create caring relationships with them.

The successful candidate will assist in the learning and development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the class teacher.

Predominantly to work in Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1, although could also involve working across all key stages.

Experience of working within a nursery or school desirable, although full training will be given.

Level 2 or 3 recognised Early Years qualification desirable but not essential.

An ability to work as part of a team, as well as on your own initiative essential - as is a sense of humour!

Must be adaptable and flexible in approach.

You will be working with our wonderful children in small groups, supporting with their daily reading, and working alongside our inspirational class teachers.

This role is on a fixed term contract, term-time only, initially from January until the end of August 2022. However, there is the prospect that this role will then be made permanent. 

The hours of work will be 43.75 per week (8.00am to 4:45pm) with the facility to work flexibly until 5.45pm across 2 or 3 days per week to cover after school care for children aged 3 to 7 years old.

About Rishworth School

Rishworth School is a mixed, non-denominational, all-through independent day and boarding school situated in Rishworth, West Yorkshire. The school has a Christian ethos but welcomes students from all faiths. There are approximately 450 pupils at Rishworth, between the ages of 3-19.

Rishworth School was established in 1724 by John Wheelwright in a small building, now used as the school’s chapel. The junior school, Heathfield opened in 1951. The school is set around 130 acres of parkland. It is a founder member of the Society of Headmasters for Independent Schools (SHMIS). Rishworth and Heathfield both offer an extensive range of learning facilities and share a swimming pool, performing arts centre and playing fields.
