Job overview

An opportunity to lead the Education Inclusion Service (EIS) where children, young people and families are at the heart of its work. There is strong multi-disciplinary working with schools and other agencies to ensure best outcomes for all children.

We are seeking an experienced professional to work within the Isle of Wight Council to lead EIS including Inclusion (exclusion), Attendance and Elective Home Education.

The IOW is committed and successful in meeting the needs of vulnerable children.

You will have opportunities to work closely with a range of colleagues and be part of a creative and effective inclusion management team.

With excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, you will possess a good understanding of schools, attendance and inclusion issues.

Proven experience of successful service management and improvement will be necessary as you will take a strong operational lead in the management of the Education and Inclusion service.

Good communication skills, both oral and written, are essential for this position. You will be acting as a Strategic Inclusion Adviser and lead on communications with schools and other agencies. You will lead a small but highly effective team.

With a commitment to partnership working and ensuring best outcomes for children and young people, you will take a leading role in building on relationships between the Local Authority (LA) and schools.
