We are seeking an inspiring and visionary leader to join our national team.

E-ACT is recruiting a Secondary Education Director. The successful appointee will support outstanding educational leadership across several academies and work as part of our national trust team delivering improvement at scale. You will also lead on one of our collaborative networks or an improvement area for secondary academies across E-ACT. This role will report into the National Director of Secondary, working alongside other Education Directors.

You will need to be a high performing, impact-driven leader with proven results in your field, and senior experience within education as a successful Headteacher. You will have an unrelenting focus on the quality of teaching, learning and outcomes within each academy and the expertise to develop school leaders. This is a national role but with a focus on the Southwest and our secondary schools in Bristol.

Our national team play a crucial role to support our academies across England. You will be part of an exceptional network that make a difference to our students’ educational experience. This is at the heart of everything we do.

Pay Range: Competitive, reflecting experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on the delivery of outstanding education across a number of academies.
  • Identify needs, source support and build capacity within your team.
  • Effectively manage the Headteachers in your team. Ensuring an unwavering focus on teaching and learning quality, and outcomes within each academy.
  • Approaching this in a ‘people focused’ way.
  • Attending and inputting into all Ofsted, LA and E-ACT led assurance and governance activity, ensuring academy performance is scrutinised, supported, and held to account.
  • Assisting with the implementation of national and local strategies for raising attainment.
  • Trust wide responsibility for an improvement area or a collaborative network.
  • Work closely and collaborate with the other Education Directors, Deputy National Director of Secondary Education, and National Director of Secondary.
  • Champion growth in school leadership and development of your senior leaders, with an awareness of talent and succession planning.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Successful track record as a Secondary Headteacher.
  • High credibility and senior experience.
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of education.
  • Passion for creating an inclusive, supportive and inspiring team environment.
  • People focused with high emotional intelligence.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to each academy’s values and ethos


As an Education Director, you will enjoy the flexibility of working from home and managing your own schedule. Regular travel is essential, which is likely to involve overnight stays.
