The job holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young person’s for whom s/he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with the relevant Cognita Safeguarding; Child Protection Policy and Procedures at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the role, the job holder identifies any instance that a child is suffering or likely to suffer significant harm either at school or at home, s/he must report any concerns to the School’s Child Protection Officer/Designated Safeguarding Lead or to the Head of indeed to the Regional CEO so that a referral can be made accordingly to the relevant third party services.

Excellent teachers with leadership competencies lead teams of other teachers, the Education Lead plays an instructional role developing the teachers within their team. The Education Lead facilitates team collaboration and planning. The Education Lead is accountable for the team’s success and all students’ learning outcomes. The Education Lead as an excellent teacher, is able to reach many more students, both directly through instruction and indirectly, by improving the work of other teachers and staff in multiple classrooms.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the learning and development of all children within their team.
  • Set high expectations of achievement for all students.
  • Provide support and advice to teachers regarding classroom management, pastoral and curriculum issues.
  • Provide developmental feedback to improve teachers and their instruction
  • Build teacher capacity through co-teaching, modelling and professional dialogue
  • Support the School Director with the induction of new staff and families
  • Work with, the Woodland Director of Teaching and Learning with the ongoing planning, development and implementation of the curriculum.
  • Develop and promote effective collaborative planning practices.
  • Develop strategies to ensure that teacher programs are functional working documents and are reviewed on a regular basis.
  • Contributing to school and group-wide Professional Development
  • Lead collaborative planning for their teams

 Requirements:

  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Holders of a Postgraduate Diploma in Education; Bachelor of Education Degree or Early Childhood Education Certificates
  • Demonstrated experience/capacity to fulfil the core responsibilities of the position applied for. 
  • A capacity to provide high quality educational leadership.
  • Exemplary teaching and learning skills which achieve an outstanding level of student learning.
  • A demonstrated capacity to build and maintain effective teams and to develop co-operative and constructive working relationships that promote quality teaching and learning practices.
  • A demonstrated capacity to evaluate and critically reflect upon professional practice and to assist and support colleagues to develop their own skills through involvement in annual review and appraisal.
  • Ability to successfully initiate, plan and implement programs in response to new educational needs and priorities.
  • A demonstrated high level of communication and interpersonal skills when relating to students, colleagues, parents and broader community
