Description The Director of Schools invites applications from suitably qualified, experienced and highly motivated people for the position of Education Officer - Religious Education & Spirituality. The successful applicant will provide assistance and support to diocesan schools and work to promote the system strategic plan as part of the Religious Education & Spirituality Team at the Catholic Schools Office.
Position Requirements As a member of the Religious Education & Spirituality Team the successful applicant will promote the Catholic identity and mission of diocesan schools, facilitate the continuing development, implementation and evaluation of the classroom teaching of Religion and support the spiritual development and faith formation of staff.
Essential Criteria • must be a practising Catholic who has experience of Church leadership beyond the school context.
• must be able to fulfil the requirements of the Diocesan Accreditation to Work Teach and Lead Policy
• have relevant studies in Religious Education or Theology at a graduate level
• have extensive school or system leadership experience
• have a significant successful classroom experience
• have an understanding of contemporary learning and teaching in the context of Catholic Religious Literacy.
• have a sound understanding and experience in the development and implementation of quality learning and teaching in Religious Education.
• have a clear understanding of and personal commitment to Catholic schools in the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle
• have demonstrated initiative and the ability to work in a team setting or unsupervised, as required
Desirable Criteria • have relevant studies in Religious Education or Theology at a post graduate level Have recent experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of religious education curriculum.

The Catholic Schools Office (CSO), is responsible for the leadership, efficient operation and management of systemic schools which educate more than 18,000 students in 45 Primary schools, 10 Secondary schools and one K-12 school in the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle.
