Description | The Director of Schools invites applications from energetic, innovative and contemporary educators to join the Curriculum Team in Teaching & Learning Services. The Education Officer-Secondary Curriculum English/Literacy joins two other curriculum specialists currently supporting secondary schools in the Diocese. The role calls for an experienced, quality teacher with the capabilities to support secondary schools in the following key areas: •NESA syllabus implementation support 7-12 in the English KLA • Support for schools in developing a whole school approach to literacy •Provision of advice and support as per diocesan policy regarding programming, assessing, reporting •School improvement, contemporary and professional learning initiatives • Provision of strategic, high quality professional learning opportunities for secondary schools • Student data analysis and implementation support for targeted improvement – eg NAPLAN, HSC (RAP) This position is a 0.4 FTE. |

Position Requirements | The Education Officer – Secondary Curriculum English/Literacy will be able to demonstrate the following key criteria for this position: • A personal commitment to the ethos and teachings of the Catholic faith • Successful, significant teaching experience (with a minimum of 8 years) with high skill and knowledge level in the English discipline • A clear understanding of NESA requirements in the English KLA • An excellent understanding of contemporary thinking and research regarding the educational and pedagogical issues impacting secondary schools • A commitment to delivering high quality classroom practice • The capability, capacity and confidence to engage in dialogue with secondary school leaders/ teachers about school improvement literacy initiatives, including evidence-based interventions for student achievement • Ability to work with, advise and support secondary schools in relation to a strategic, whole school approach to literacy • Capacity to assist in the design of relevant, high quality professional learning opportunities for schools with a focus on English and literacy • Highly developed interpersonal and professional skills with a capacity to collaborate at CSO Team and school levels • A flexible approachable style that enables collegial team work |

Essential Criteria | • Be appropriately qualified as a four year trained secondary teacher • Current NESA and Working With Children number must be recorded on the application |

Desirable Criteria | • Experience as a subject coordinator or assistant principal – curriculum • Post graduate qualifications at Masters level |
