Description | The Director of Schools invites applications from qualified and experienced personnel for the position of Education officer, Vocational Education and RTO Compliance. The successful applicant will have significant expertise in secondary schools VET curriculum and course requirements, and management of VET in a school setting. The role is based within Teaching and Learning Services at the Catholic Schools Office; the position provides VET and RTO advice and support to 11 diocesan secondary schools in the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle and to the Newcastle Trade Training Centre (Yula Panaal). |

Position Requirements | • Demonstrate a clear understanding of and personal commitment to the mission of Catholic schooling in the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle • Have a four year teaching classification with significant and successful teaching/work experiences • Have a high level of communication, organisation, ICT and networking skills • Have a clear understanding of NESA and ASQA requirements within the context of the NSW VET agenda • Have a sound knowledge of RTO audit processes • Have a sound knowledge of competency-based training and assessment • Provide high quality information, advice and support for the effective delivery of Vocational Education in secondary schools • Have effective interpersonal skills and the ability to relate positively to school leaders, teachers, work colleagues and representatives of industry and other agencies • Coordinate training and provide professional learning for VET teachers in schools and liaise with the Project Officer for Yula Panaal TTC at Mandalong • Have skills in managing the area of responsibility including budgetary requirements and relevant initiatives • Have an understanding about Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and addressing related requirements for schools • Support Careers Advisers in providing career and transition education in diocesan schools • Ability to liaise with Catholic Schools NSW networks and industry leaders at a regional level • Use initiative, work in a team setting or unsupervised, as required by Head of Service |

Essential Criteria | • Current NESA and Working With Children number must be recorded on application. • Be appropriately qualified as a four year trained secondary teacher. • Hold a post-graduate qualification in Career Education Note: To start or return to working as a teacher in a NSW school, you must be accredited by NESA. |
