About the role

Reporting to the Manager: The Arts, Applied Learning and Vocational Education and Training, the Education Officer: Vocational Education focuses facilitating pathways for students from school to the workforce.

The Education Officer: Vocational Education will be responsible for:

  • working collaboratively to deliver integrated learning pathways that targets identified skills shortages and enhances the transition from school to employment, ensuring work ready students for employees
  • supporting schools in planning teaching materials to deliver a range of activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration and work experience that provides students with opportunities to learn, question and investigate, incorporating fair and equitable assessment strategies, and maintaining individual training plans to meet the individuals learning style and ability, ensuring compliance with the VET Quality Framework
  • pursuing and maintaining effective relationships with industry and VET providers to ensure knowledge and skills and a thorough understanding of current training package requirements
  • supporting schools to meet assessment and reporting for RTO requirements, including completion of competencies and satisfactory completion of mandated work placement
  • supporting schools in monitoring attendance and student management, including absenteeism and unsatisfactory performance in the training environment or the workplace
  • planning, initiating and delivering training from endorsed Training Packages on the Scope of Registration, in accordance with the Standards for NVR Registered Training Organisations and Australian Qualification Framework (AQF)
  • liaising and networking with schools, VET institutions, industry and the general public to discuss matters associated with the provision of job opportunities for students
  • monitoring the roles and responsibilities of school-based apprentices and trainees
  • implementing the training NSW government complete guide to apprenticeships and traineeships in New South Wales including requirements for citizenship and residency
  • understanding and ensuring compliance with legislation for Apprenticeship and Traineeship ACT 2001 and the Apprenticeship and Traineeship Regulation 2017.

About you

Our ideal candidate has demonstrated experience in a similar position and possess the following skills, qualifications and experience:

  • university degree in Education or Teaching or equivalent experience in the field and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment – TAE40116
  • minimum 5 years teaching experience in a school, TAFE or Registered Training Organisation
  • experienced in leading staff in professional learning
  • demonstrated success in improving student outcomes and implementing school wide initiatives
  • experienced in using data analysis to inform educational initiatives
  • the ability to articulate contemporary educational trends in both local and international contexts
  • high order written, oral and presentation skills
  • a current driver’s licence.
