Job overview

As an Education Support Worker, you will be responsible for supporting groups and/or individual learners with identified Learning Difficulties /Disabilities.

The support you provide will enable students with LDD to participate fully in the life of the College and achieve their learning goals.

The ability to recognise and respond to the needs of individuals is essential. You will liaise with teaching and other support staff to ensure individual support needs are met and contribute to the effective development of support strategies to promote independence.

You will provide in class support to ensure learner participation, encourage interaction through support for communication and facilitate inclusion by supporting appropriate behaviour, supporting learners in their understanding of instruction/tasks and note taking. You will ensure reasonable adjustments are made and provide in and out of class support for students with mobility and or sensory impairments. Out of class support may include personal care, encouraging learners to develop their social skills, work experience and educational trips and visits.

With a recognised qualification in support work or equivalent, you will have experience of working with people aged 16 years with Additional Learning Support needs.
