Job overview

We have several opportunities available for experienced Education Support Workers to join us on a Permanent basis (up to 30 hours per week).

The role of Education Support worker is a critical role in the College as it enables students with additional needs to meet their true goals and aspirations within a supported, safer learning environment.

Providing in-class support to ensure learner participation and communication, you would expect to be responsible for:

  • Facilitating inclusion by supporting appropriate behaviour(s).
  • Ensuring reasonable adjustments are met
  • Providing in and out of class support for students with mobility and or sensory impairments; Out of class support may include personal care, encouraging learners to develop their social skills, work experience and educational trips and visits.
  • Supporting groups and/or individual learners with identified Learning Difficulties /Disabilities.
  • Supporting the enablement of students with LDD to participate fully in the life of the College and work towards their learning achievements.
  • Contributing proactively to the effective development of support strategies to promote individual independence.

Experience and Qualifications

  • The ability to recognise and respond to the needs of individuals, liaising with teaching and support staff to ensure individual support needs are met and adhered to.
  • Demonstrated experience of working with young people with Additional Learning Support needs.
  • A recognised qualification in support work (or equivalent certification) is essential.
  • A good level of education with a minimum A*-C in Maths and English (or equivalent)
