We are looking to recruit an Educational Support Apprentice to join our SEN Team.  In this individual we want to see drive and determination, someone who is proactive, courageous, open-minded, a self-starter, who is enthusiastic and above all is passionate about working with young people. 

We are partnering with Halifax Opportunities Trust, who will provide the course materials and resources for the Teaching Assistant Level 3 qualification.  The programme of study is 15 months and is delivered via a 1-1 or group session and practice assessments at the workplace.  

The required qualifications are English and Maths at Grade c/4, or be willing to take on additional studies to upskill to the level required - for more information see the Course Overview Information attached.

As a school, we are on a journey to become a Trauma Informed school and as such we want colleagues who embrace this way of working and who can appreciate the links between trauma and behaviour.  As an Educational Support Assistant, you will work collaboratively with our SENCo, members of our Personalised Learning Team and Teachers to provide support to our students to help them identify barriers to learning and work with them to achieve their full potential.

This is a key time to join Spen Valley High School as we build upon our many strengths and develop a truly coherent provision for our students.  You will work alongside a team of highly professional & dedicated staff who are welcoming, courageous, open-minded and supportive. It is a particularly exciting time to join the school as we embed our new curriculum and continue to develop our Trauma Informed and Restorative Practices. The successful candidate will be at the forefront of this transformational change and we are looking for someone who is creative, dynamic, and willing to embrace this challenge head on.

This role is a 30-hour contract term time plus 1 day, with the opportunity to sign up to extra days helping out with holiday activities or for additional training.
