Lansdowne School, Hailsham, is a ‘Good’ secure children’s unit and is an extremely successful provision within East Sussex local authority and as part of the SABDEN Multi Academy Trust. Lansdowne Secure Children’s Home offers young people in crisis a safe, therapeutic and physically secure environment. Within the purpose built facility, Lansdowne School provides a full-time education designed to re-engage residents in their learning.
Due to recent expansion work, this has opened the opportunity for a new role within the education team working closely with the young people in our school and leading the enrichment curriculum.
The school is seeking applications from enthusiastic candidates, able to work collaboratively within the small school team, to motivate and support the education of young people as well as liaising with home staff to meet social and emotional needs. You will be resilient and resourceful, able to remain calm in sometimes challenging situations; you will appreciate working in a structured environment with learning and enjoyment at the heart of all that we do.
The successful candidate will be energetic and creative and able to work as part of the multi-disciplinary team (Education, Care and Health) taking the lead in the provision of enrichment activities for the residents, as well as being an integral member of the school support staff team in an educational support assistant capacity, similar to that of a teaching assistant. The successful candidate will also be required to work three weeks during the school summer holidays (August) to plan and support the delivery of the holiday activity programme and in return, this post offers flexible holiday, which can be taken during term time, with plenty of notice.
Lansdowne offers an opportunity to work in a holistic setting with extremely vulnerable young people. The school team is experienced, supportive and committed to delivering the highest quality learning experience for the residents. Lansdowne School offers you the support of a strong and dynamic staff team, and a commitment to ensuring your professional development allowing you to continue to learn and develop expertise in your new role.
