Wigan and Leigh College are looking to recruit to its successful Engineering department, based at its Centre of Engineering Excellence, Pagefield Campus, an experienced lecturer who has the experience of delivering a range of Electrical/Electronic Engineering courses from level 3 to BEng degree level. Consideration and appropriate professional development would also be given to innovative and creative engineers who possess excellent industry experience and knowledge who are considering a career change. The successful candidate will be required to further enhance our suite of technical modules to include the delivery of some of the following units. Electrical Power, Electrical & Electronic Principles, PLC’s, Engineering Science, Instrumentation & Control, Inspection & Test, 3 Phase Motors, Communications, Digital & Analogue Electronics. The successful candidate will be joining a well established section, with dedicated professionals, a proven track record of success, record student recruitment in both FE and HE plus a robust growth strategy.

You will work within the Electrical Engineering team and will support in the development of courses, teaching and departmental VLE resources. You will be integral to the assessment and support of both full and part time students to ensure the continued high quality of the electrical engineering provision within the department.

The successful candidate will be expected to possess a good Engineering Degree and an excellent up to date knowledge of the industry and the diverse roles within it.

Wigan and Leigh College is a further education college in Wigan, Greater Manchester, which has been providing education and training locally for more than 150 years. It employs around 1,000 staff and has a student roll of about 17,000. Further education students can choose the A-level professional honours programme or vocational qualifications such as BTECs. An expanding higher education portfolio of foundation degrees, top-up degrees, higher nationals and certificates is available to adult students of all ages, both full-time and part-time. 

Wigan and Leigh College operates from several sites across the borough: the Parson’s Walk Centre, School for the Arts and Pagefield Centre are in Wigan, close to the town centre. The Image Centre and Leigh College are close to the town centre of Leigh.
