An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and self-motivated Caseworker to join our 3 ship programme within our Lifestyle and Works team specifically working on Supported Internships. 

This position is a full time 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday) permanent contract working in the Birmingham area.

The 3 Ships are Mencap’s education based programmes for supporting people with a learning disability to move closer to the job market and gain employment. The 3 Ships are Supported Internships, Traineeships and Apprenticeships.

The Caseworker role is central to the delivery of these programmes; supporting a caseload of learners, and giving end to end individualised support. As such the Caseworker – 3 Ships role will need to be able to work collaboratively with Tutors to support individuals to complete all elements of the programme in line with requirements.

The successful candidate will be accountable for learner progression in the workplace. You will deliver support in various ways; 1-1 job training, working with learners to develop employability skills and embed English and Maths in delivery. There will be elements of pastoral support.

Key skills and requirements (essential):

  • Experience of supporting people
  • Experience of delivering against targets
  • Knowledge of safe working practices
  • Knowledge of sector
  • A-C/9-4 English & Maths GCSE (or equivalent)
  • Good ICT skills
  • Effective Communicator
  • Effective record keeping and reporting

All candidates offered an interview for this role will need to provide evidence of their A-C GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) at interview stage.
