Head of Engagement

New Forest Care are a specialist childcare and education provider. The young people we work with present with various specific educational needs, including Autism, ADHD, and MLD. A therapeutic approach and putting our children first are integral to what we do.

Students and staff benefit from access to excellent facilities across our three sites on the Island and the wider school provision on the mainland. Our students benefit from small class/group sizes, and you will often teach one-to-one lessons. High staff ratios allow us to provide highly bespoke and individualised educational provision to our students with additional support from our therapy and pastoral teams.

Successful applicants will need to have a full driving licence, access to a suitable vehicle and be willing to drive each day, as collecting students and working remotely is a key part of your day.

We are an approved provider for the Isle of Wight Council SEN department to deliver individualised tuition and a range of pathway options, including animal care, forest school, outdoor sport, and construction. All students benefit from dedicated subject lessons or embedded core skills, and all gain qualifications and awards. We are an exam centre for many formal (RQF) awards.

The successful candidate will:

  • Plan and deliver explicit lessons whilst following the national curriculum.
  • Have the desire to work in an SEN setting.
  • Be approachable, flexible and adaptable, with a desire to make a difference in our student's lives.
  • Have the capability for supporting children with social and emotional behavioural needs within an educational environment.
  • Possess effective communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Be passionate about providing quality education care and support to young people.
  • Demonstrate analytical thinking to improve the quality of pupils' learning.
  • Build team commitment with colleagues.
