The Exciting Role 

The College Group is looking for a part-time, permanent HE Engineering Lecturer (Electrical & Electronics) to join our dedicated HE Division and HE Engineering team. This role will be based at our Nelson and Colne College University Centre though travel to Accrington & Rossendale University Centre may be required. We welcome applications from NQTs. 


What You Will Be Doing: 

• Teach on HE Engineering programmes (HNC/D and BEng) with a particular focus upon electrical/electronic subject specialisms delivering effective learning for students

• To plan and prepare a high-quality learning experience, including for delivery online, as required.

• Develop and share resources for the subject including maintaining effective links across College.

• Ensure assessment is planned, set and carried out to the highest standard and follows externally set undergraduate regulations.

• Maintain comprehensive, up to date, programme, student/subject records and provide information, as and when requested.

• Engage in curriculum development and planning activities, individually and as a member of the HE Division.

• Be responsible for the appropriate administration of exam entries for the subject and liaise with the HE Engineering Curriculum Leader, the HE Office/Registry, external examiners and partner awarding bodies, as appropriate.

• Ensure close liaison and good communications with other staff in matters concerning HE students. 

What We Are Looking For: 

• A good or better degree in an Engineering related subject or appropriate professional qualification (subject specialisms in Electrical & Electronics disciplines)

• A higher degree (MA/MSc/Mphil) or PhD or willingness to pursue.

• Recognised teaching qualification or a willingness to achieve this within three years of appointment

• Successful teaching experience in a relevant subject area (Engineering/Electrical/ Electronic) 

• Knowledge of and proven ability to deliver the higher education curriculum successfully and delivering high quality outcomes for students

About Nelson and Colne College

Nelson and Colne College, located in the town of Nelson, Lancashire, offers further education to 1,600 full-time students and 3,500 part-time adults. The college was founded during the reorganisation of education in Pendle in the early 1970s and created by the merger of several local sixth forms. 

Recent investments have included a £2m engineering facility, an all-weather sports pitch and gym, fully equipped science laboratories, and student study and social spaces. In January 2017, Nelson and Colne College launched a university centre to offer a range of higher education programmes in East Lancashire and beyond.
