We are now in an exciting position to recruit a new role in line with growth and curriculum development. We are looking for someone with experience of working in education and using PLCs in industry to initially develop our curriculum offer, with the vision to lead and teach on the Mechatronic T level from September 2025 and work with the engineering team to integrate PLCs into other existing courses.
The Mechatronic pathway requires students to undertake core units followed by study of the Mechatronic occupational specialism. The core component is a highly theoretical aspect covering all aspects of Engineering including Engineering Mathematics, Electrical and Electronic Systems, Applied Physics, Thermodynamics, Fluid Dynamics, Control Systems, Health and Safety, Project Management, Engineering Business.
The successful candidate will not need to teach all units but will be required to lead and teach the majority with the support of existing staff.
Due to the complexity and specialisms we require a multi-skilled individual to work with specific employer focus groups and existing staff to develop the course content with a view of launching in September 2025.
Whilst developing the course material the successful candidate would be responsible for generating placements and employer links to ensure that there is employer co-delivery embedded throughout both pathways. This will include sponsorship for specialist equipment and employer endorsements.
The introduction of PLCs across the curriculum is an area we are focusing on as PLC’s is an area we want to build into our curriculum for 25 – 26 to complement our existing Electrical Engineering pathway leading to progression opportunities for students.
We will then be looking at installing mechatronic labs/workshops in our new Advanced Manufacturing building at the start of 2026 with access to robots and other state-of-the-art technology.
The successful applicant will be expected to work flexibly and under pressure to meet deadlines, be customer focused with excellent communication and organizational skills.
