About Us
Very excitingly, from September 2026, WMG Academy Trust will welcome its first cohort of Year 9 students. This marks a significant milestone in our journey and enables us to further shape and strengthen our UTC curriculum, reinforcing our business-like, business-led ethos from an even earlier stage.
WMG Academy is a thriving and welcoming establishment for aspiring young Engineers. With a strong emphasis on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), we offer a distinctive curriculum that includes GCSEs (including core subjects), A Levels, vocational and technical qualifications, or a combined approach.

We’re Looking For A Very Special Engineering Teacher
We are seeking an outstanding and inspiring Teacher of Engineering to deliver our innovative, employer-led curriculum to passionate students across Years 9 to 13. In this role, you will design and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world industrial practice, collaborating directly with major industry partners like Jaguar Land Rover and Rolls-Royce. You will be responsible for fostering learner employability skills, maintaining excellent classroom discipline, and contributing to our enrichment programmes. The ideal candidate must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and possess exceptional subject knowledge in Engineering, Electronics, or Product Design, alongside strong data analysis skills and a proven ability to inspire students of all abilities. Industry-based professional experience and a track record of driving outstanding student outcomes are highly desirable.
You Will Have:
5 A*-C GCSEs including English and Maths.
Deep knowledge of Engineering or Product Design.
Strong relationships with pupils, parents, and partners.
Proven ability to demonstrate outstanding classroom practice.
Evidence of continuous professional development.

The WMG Academy for Young Engineers Multi Academy Trust was formed in March 2015. Following the successful opening of the Coventry Academy in September 2014, the WMG Academy Trust opened its second Academy in September 2016 in North Solihull.
Formed between a partnership of the University of Warwick and with the support of national, regional and local businesses such as Jaguar Land Rover, National Grid, and Rolls-Royce, the Trust is committed to providing a better way of learning for the Engineers of the future.

WMG Academy for Young Engineers Coventry
Opened in September 2014 by Ratan Tata, the Coventry Academy has over 500 students on roll. Located close to the Westwood area in Canley and the University of Warwick, the Coventry Academy was designed with a large Engineering Hall filled with over £1M worth of specialist equipment. Three additional dedicated CAD/CAM areas allow industry standard software to be used by students in their Engineering projects.
WMG Academy for Young Engineers Solihull
Opened in September 2016, the Solihull Academy boasts over £2M of specialist equipment and ICT and currently has over 420 students on roll. Developed along a similar open plan design to Coventry, the Solihull Academy occupies a slightly bigger footprint.
Dedicated ICT facilities include 3 CAD suites and student PC access in all teaching rooms giving unrivalled access to industry standard software. These facilities allow innovative teaching pedagogy through digital technologies. A large Engineering Hall, complemented by ‘Make and Do’ areas above, allows a flexible group-work approach to learning.
