Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a committed individual to oversee the maintenance, repair and development of the College’s Engineering and Welding workshops, machinery and equipment to ensure adequate and safe working conditions at all times as required by the curriculum.

The successful applicant will be required to organise the day-to-day activity of other support staff in the area, in addition to driving improvements in process and procedure used to maintain the area. Applicants will also support the delivery of the electronics curriculum, including constructing circuits and materials ready for student use.

It is essential that applicants have an awareness of programmable logic controllers, pneumatics, hydraulics and mechatronics sensors and actuators. As well as the ability to read and interpret CAD drawings and prior experience of Solidworks, if experience is in another package, we can provide training. 

Successful candidates are expected to have an HNC / HND or equivalent, as well as the ability to apply lean / 5s methodology to mechanical workshop environments and excellent inter-personal skills in dealing with students, staff and members of the public. 

This post is part-funded by the European Social Fund, Bedrock Futures Project until 31 August 2023.
