More information

The English and Drama department consists of five teachers and two support staff (librarian and LAMDA teacher), we are a successful department and a popular choice for students at GCSEs and A level.

In the lower years (7,8,9) there is a large amount of freedom offered to teachers within the department in terms of unit studies, they are encouraged to share their passions with their students whilst being unafraid to explore new areas of study.

At GCSE level (years 10 & 11) all students are expected to complete the separate English Literature and Language course, Drama was launched as a GCSE in September 2016 and has proved very popular.

In the Sixth Form we do not study for the AS exam. We follow the AQA specification in A level English Literature and GCSE English Literature, Language and Drama.

The English and Drama department is passionate about exposing our students to wider, but related, cultural experiences and trips to theatres are actively encouraged. Every year the department produces at least one whole school production and several smaller theatrical performances.

A job description will be finalised with the successful candidate upon appointment.
