At Woodside School, we are at an exciting point of improvement and are seeking to appoint dedicated staff that share our vision and values. We are an all all age special school (5-19), catering for children and young people with a range of learning difficulties, including Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and moderate learning. Our School is part of the Belmont Woodside Federation. The two schools share one Executive Headteacher. We are seeking to appoint a resourceful and energetic English Coordinator to join our committed leadership team, who will be instrumental in improving our English provision throughout the school. You will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing and evaluating practice across our school, with the support of our dedicated Senior Leadership Team.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be an excellent classroom practitioner with a track record of raising attainment, ideally within a SEN School setting.

We are looking for an English coordinator to work across the school. You should have a sound knowledge of the English curriculum and be willing to develop your expertise further. This is an ideal opportunity for a teacher to develop their leadership skills.

About Woodside Academy

This special, over-subscribed academy offers provision for 4–19-year-olds with Autism (ASD) and moderate learning needs.

Our calm, caring, welcoming and purposeful environment ensures that every child is well supported, with learning and therapy tailored to individual needs.

We value trust, honesty and kindness and focus on helping our pupils to become happy and confident.

We prepare our pupils for all stages of development by raising their achievement and helping them to develop strong communication skills. This ensures they can be heard, are informed and can make meaningful choices – which are all key to future success.

We also focus on the development of independence and social communication and interaction with our rich, child-centred curriculum. This is tailored to individual need, ability and wellbeing – encompassing ambitious academic and holistic aspirations as our young people journey towards adulthood.

At the end of Year 11, pupils achieve qualifications in English, Maths, Science and a vocational subject. They may choose either to progress onto local colleges or to remain at Woodside for their sixth form education. Our young people typically access a range of further education courses according to their interests and ability, with staff and external advisors providing support and guidance regarding the progression options on offer to them.
