English (IB MYP and DP) - (Maternity Leave cover)

Oeiras International School (OIS) seeks a new English L&L (MYP and DP):

OIS is a highly prestigious private, inclusive, co-educational international day school (Year 2 – Year 13) situated in a beautiful 17th Century Portuguese Palace in a very peaceful and attractive “Quinta” in the surroundings of Oeiras, close to Lisbon. The school enjoys accreditation with NEASC and is a CIS member school.

OIS offers the International Baccalaureate Continuum beginning with Year 2 of the Primary Years Programme (PYP), to the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and culminates in Year 13 with the Diploma Programme (DP). We have a predominately international student population representing over 40 nationalities. There are currently 453 students on roll.

WE ARE SEEKING AN EXCELLENT TEACHER FOR ENGLISH (L&L) IN MYP/DP (THE ABILITY ALSO TO TEACH TOK WOULD BE AN ADVANTAGE):

We require a versatile, capable and enthusiastic teacher to teach English (L&L) in the MYP and DP (with experience of TOK preferably) to start on 21st August 2024. Candidates with previous experience in an international school setting with IB experience will have a distinct advantage. The salary is calculated using OIS's pay scale to ensure fair pay. 

The maternity cover contract includes*: 

• Economy class flight upon commencement and end of last contract for teacher and dependents with an additional baggage allowance (up to a defined amount)

• Hotel allowance for the first two weeks while accommodation is found (daily rate set)

• Accommodation allowance for the first five years of the contract 

• Private medical insurance 

• Heavily subsidised tuition scholarship for up to two dependent children  

• Lunch allowance

*Staff hired locally will not receive flight, hotel or accommodation allowance.

1) Application form:

Note: The names, school addresses and institutional e-mail addresses of THREE professional referees must be included, one of which must be from your current Head of School (if you are not in employment now, it must be from your most recent Head of School).

2) Online Questionnaire:

A link will be sent for you to answer to several questions.

3) Interviews via Microsoft Teams or face to face with local candidates (video camera required for the interview).

4) Teaching observation: for candidates living in Portugal, you will be invited to OIS to teach a lesson.
