The Role

Are you looking to start to your Teaching career in a supportive school who will help you become the teacher you want to be?

We are seeking to appoint an excellent English Teacher to join our team of happy, motivated and experienced staff. Committed to raising attainment and continuous school improvement, you will have the ability to motivate our students to succeed. The department is situated in a purpose-built block, with every classroom having interactive whiteboards and wireless facilities.

English is a leading department at Highcrest, GCSE results are good and A Level students have progressed to prestigious Universities, including Cambridge. Literacy is a whole-school key improvement focus.

About Us

Our aim is to establish a culture of excellence throughout every element of our academy and move us from Good to Outstanding.

Just 30 minutes by train from Central London, The Highcrest Academy is the first All Ability Academy in the county of Buckinghamshire. It is culturally diverse and a vibrant school making it a fantastic place to teach. We have some students who will need all your support and yet have also featured in the national Ofsted report for providing challenge to the most able.

There are approximately 1,000 students on roll, which includes the Sixth Form. A new building programme, just completed, comprises a brand-new Sixth Form Centre, sports facilities including a gym, and a new restaurant and coffee shop for both students and staff. We also have a thriving House system that brings our whole school community together.

In Return

Highcrest offers both an excellent induction and support programme for NQTs. This provision of training has been praised as outstanding by an external assessor and highlighted in the local press. We provide weekly CPD meetings with experienced members of staff, time-tabled and protected Mentor Meetings on a weekly basis, subject knowledge time with departments, an extensive personalised CPD plan and a two-week paid induction period in June/July.

Not only will we help you develop into the teacher you aspire to be, we also offer free on-site parking, staff recognition schemes and free gym to counter the “Friday Biscuits” and on-site coffee shop! There is also the possibility of shared living accommodation.

How to Apply

The Highcrest Academy is a vibrant, happy school in which every student is given the opportunity to develop their talents and to flourish as individuals. We are relentless in our pursuit of building a cohesive culture and curriculum that matches the varied needs of our students.

Our motto, ‘Aspire and Achieve’ is central to our philosophy. We are committed to making sure that every student makes outstanding progress and succeeds both academically and in terms of their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Indeed, we value a strong work ethic and aim to develop, sometimes hidden or unsuspected talent, into fruition.

At Highcrest, we are committed to setting high expectations for the conduct of our pupils and believe it is crucial for there to be an established culture in which all are able to excel. We want all the children who come to the academy to enjoy their learning and to become thoughtful, articulate, confident and responsible members of society.

Our personalised curriculum is enhanced by numerous extra-curricular opportunities, community and business projects, national and international competitions and a thriving House System. This encourages staff and students of all ages to work together.

The Highcrest Academy is the only all-ability academy in Buckinghamshire and is a culturally diverse, over-subscribed school, making it a fantastic place to teach. There are approximately 1000 students on roll, including Sixth Form. We know from pupil surveys that students are proud of our school and, when parents have been surveyed, the level of parent satisfaction has also been exceptionally high.

We are very aware that The Highcrest Academy is part of a community and we work hard to instil a sense of local and global responsibility. This means that students take part in many activities which enhance the local community, and have a real understanding of their role in improving the work community.

Our mission is to create a positive, secure and happy learning environment where all students experience success, friendship, respect and self-worth; where students value and celebrate the diverse talents and cultural heritage of all, and achieve their full potential in becoming responsible citizens, respecting the rights of other and contributing to our society.
