English Teacher - Marland School

Peters Marland, Torrington, Devon, EX38 8QQ

Permanent, Full Time

TPS

Marland is a successful all age (KS1-4) special school for students with Social, Emotional and/or Mental Health (SEMH) needs. It is currently located across three sites; Peters Marland, Barnstaple and Central Bideford and will be opening a new 'Secondary Day School' (Yr7-Yr11) in East of the Water, Bideford in April 2023 for 40 students. This teaching post will be based at this new school site and commence April 2023.

The overall Marland group of schools are currently graded as 'Good' by Ofsted Education, with the residential care provision separately judged to be 'Outstanding' by Ofsted Social Care inspectorate. Our overarching ethos is based around personalisation and meeting the needs of each individual child. We utilise 'THRIVE' based social and emotional development at the core of everything we do.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring and motivational English subject specialist to join this new staff team which will be led by experienced Marland senior staff and fully supported by the Marland organisation. This is a great opportunity to develop the delivery of English and Literacy to small groups of students in our high quality, well-resourced special school.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to liaise with existing English subject specialist colleagues at our other sites to deliver appropriate externally accredited courses. A good understanding of, and interest in, supporting the SEMH needs of our students are important attributes for all staff. You will have good communication and relationship building skills, including a focus on helping children to develop socially and emotionally. Applications are welcome from suitably qualified / experienced SEN and MAINSTREAM practitioners.

Training and ongoing professional development opportunities are offered to all staff, as are potential promotion opportunities due to the ongoing expansion of our popular schools.

Marland School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This role requires a DBS disclosure. This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
