We have recently made the transition from a middle school to a secondary with a new Key Stage 4 provision and plans for future growth. Our English Department aims to provide all pupils with an appreciation for the wider world and help them apply their life experiences to broaden their understanding.

Ofsted recently stated:

‘Teaching and Learning is improving rapidly because of powerful leadership. Students behave very well around the school, have positive attitudes towards their learning and feel safe.’

Houghton Regis is a co-educational, non-denominational secondary academy in Bedfordshire. The school opened in September 2012 under the sponsorship of Greenwood Academies Trust as a middle school. It has since converted to become an 11 to 16 secondary school. As of the most recent inspection there were 304 students on the school roll, but this was prior to the opening of the sixth form in September 2017. The school is located close to University Technical College of Central Bedfordshire and The Chiltern School. The town of Houghton Regis has a population of 17,500, and is a fifteen minute drive from central Luton. The university motto is ‘be inspired’.

The Academy’s aims are simple: to offer a first class education to all of its students, allowing them to flourish both socially and academically, to grow into being the best they can be. The school seeks to develop young people into confident, articulate and well-rounded young adults.
