Vision for Education are currently recruiting on behalf of a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Newcastle, for an English Teacher to work 3 days per week from September to December. 

To be considered for this KS3/4 English Teacher position you must hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or QTLS. 

This KS3/4 English Teacher  role is to deliver English to small classes of Students that can display challenging behaviour and struggle to regulate their own emotions. The work is challenging yet rewarding. This setting offers high quality provision and sets high standards of education, care and achievement for its children and young people, with support of senior leaders.

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. Candidate will be paid to scale after 12 weeks. Experience in working with young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties, or some kind of alternative provision, would be preferred but is not essential. 

The role

The ideal candidate will be able to teach and engage some of the areas most disengaged young learners. The successful candidate should be available Monday to Friday. This would be an amazing opportunity for somebody who wants to make a difference to young people’s lives from the most deprived and backgrounds, that in some cases have suffered major trauma. 

Requirements:

  • To be considered for the English Teacher position, you will:
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have experience of delivering English to Key Stage 3 and 4
  • Be resilient
  • Be able to demonstrate empathy
  • Have a passion to change young people's lives for the better
  • Have an understanding of Social, Emotional and Mental Health Issues
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS that is on the update service or is willing to undergo one
  • Be available 5 days a week
